We Are Family

Our theme today is FAMILY.  These are worth the watch:

First, FUNERAL.  This is a 3-minute commercial released by the National Family Council of Singapore which shows a wife giving eulogy for her late husband.

This video clip was posted at Facebook by a cousin (who, together with his family, is based in Hong Kong) and was shown to me by my sister a few hours ago (She's off-duty at the hospital today and she's been bugging me earlier with calls while I was at the office.  She's so like mother!  Hehe).

On Palace, Foreign Affairs Sec. Romulo and Choice of Pres'l Candidate

Woke up at 5:00 o'clock in the morning, said my morning salutation, greeted mother "good morning", opened my laptop, went downstairs to heat the coffee I didn't get to finish the night before, drank Vitamin C, visited Yahoo! News Phils., had my first puff, coughed out the smoke when I read Palace exec to Cabinet officials: Support admin bet or resign and Cabinet Sec. Silvestre Bello III's statement:  "Kami ang alter-egos of the president. So kapag ‘di na namin pwede suportahan ang choice ng presidente, the only honorable thing to do is leave the Cabinet. Oo, kasi di pwedeng ikaw alter-ego ng presidente e iba ang paninindigan mo sa pangulo."

Is he talking about the Alter Ego Principle?  As in, the Doctrine of Qualified Political Agency?!?

You've got to be kidding me!

eBay and the Louis Vuitton Win

I've been an eBayer at eBay.ph for more than a year and so far, I've been happy with my purchases.  The only issue I had when I first started out was the risk of parting with my money without receiving the item just yet because, unlike Sulit.com.ph where meet-up is the general rule, in eBay, rarely would you come across a seller who offers that option.  An eBay transaction is usually conducted through bank-to-bank transfers with the item(s) shipped via Air21 (claimed to be the more reliable courier by the sellers), Xend (which offers more affordable rates) or some other courier chosen by the seller.

Eventually, however, parting with my money was not the sole issue anymore.

Philippine Circus

H
ow do you start a post when all you can think of is the word CIRCUS to describe what you want to say?  Make a guess what I have been reading.

Right.  The newspaper.

You think the whole mess started with Sen. Lacson's privilege speech?  Of course not.  The privilege speech entitled "Ang Dalawang Mukha ng Sining" was just an offshoot.  How about Cezar Mancao's extradition, you think the problem began there?  Wrong.

So what could have started the latest hullabaloo in Philippine politics?

Paulo Coelho and Adena

Before I plunge into the workday, let me start my day with GRATITUDE (thanks to Don't Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson for this brilliant idea).

Paulo Coelho and Adena

I met Paulo Coelho and Adena at the same time a few years back.  At that time, in the dark, my only prayer was to be guided and be sent an angel.

Paulo Coelho, I met through his bestselling novel The Alchemist, and Adena, through the Google search engine, but which I can not remember now the circumstances leading me to her site.

Jump Break Glitch: FIXED!

Woohoo!  10 minutes of reading how to fix the problem and voila, the side bar's back right where it should be!

It's the div tags causing the problem.  Just had to replace them with span.  Thanks to bloggerstop!

If you're having the same problem (side bar pushed below posts because of jump break feature and some other jump break-related issues), then read this: Errors Fixed - Blogger Jump Break (Truncated Posts) Issues Solved.

Suddenly, I feel smarter.  Haha!

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff!

After finishing Coehlo's The Devil and Miss Prym, I bought me a new book a few days ago: Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...and it's all Small Stuff by Richard Carlson.

When I went to the book store, I didn't have any plans of buying this particular book.  With the yellow-orange cover though, and it being a bestseller, I got curious.  "And after all," I thought, "me not sweating the small stuff was one of the things I mulled over last weekend."

Kanye West

All of us had moments where we just want to be outright rude especially when we think some injustice has been done to us.  The self-control may be for different reasons, lofty or otherwise, but bottomline: WE THINK BEFORE WE SPEAK OR ACT.  Apparently, Kanye West didn't.  What the Pres. of the United States thought of him and what he did, we all share.

It takes so much grace to have grace.

To see what happened at the VMA, watch THIS (0:44 - 1:05).

Blogger's Updated Editor

I shifted to Blogger's updated editor (click 'Setting' then 'Basic', scroll down until you see 'Select Post Editor') when my side bar slid below my posts.  But whenever I individually click my entries, the side bar appears where it should be.  Must be a glitch in the code, width problems, whatever.  I'm not in the mood to troubleshoot right now.  (Some help would be welcome though :D)

The updated editor has a new feature: the jump break.  Or "post summary" to others.  See "Read more"?  That's the jump break.  It's a nice addition since, and this was probably a year ago, I had to do this manually and insert a code.

The jump break feature is a nice touch especially since I'm planning to write more often in the days ahead.  :-)  Thanks to Blogger!

MY FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

I got some text messages today asking what happened why we're no longer friends in Facebook. I really, really appreciate the thought that came with these messages and the effort to confirm with me first.

I didn't delete anyone save for those who I deleted about 5 months ago because they're total strangers. What I did last weekend was to DEACTIVATE my account. And before deactivating, I specifically read THIS to know what I was getting into because I didn't want my account deleted.
